How it works

Learn it, answer it, practise it

Mr Exham's videos stop and ask you questions as you watch. This course is built the same way: a lesson, then questions, then practice on what you got wrong.

01Lessons

Every point explained first

Strand by strand, in the order of the new specification. Each lesson explains the idea before it asks you anything about it.

  • Every topic explained
  • Strand by strand

02Practice

Then the app asks you

Put the steps of preparing an onion cell slide in order. Match each investigation term to its meaning. Sort features into prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells. You find out what you know by answering.

  • Twelve question formats
  • You see where you stand

03Repetition

Older topics come back

What you get wrong gets practised again within days, what you know comes back later. So you will remember fifth-year topics at the written exam, and sixth year isn't spent relearning everything.

  • Spaced practice
  • Nothing quietly fades

04Help

Ask when you're stuck

Type a question about any topic and the answer is drawn from this course's own lessons, with a link back to where it is explained. No weak sources, no AI hallucination.

  • Ask anything

  • Every strand, in order

The course follows the new specification's strands in order, so you always know which part you are on and what is left.

  • You answer instead of re-reading

Each lesson ends in questions, so you find out what you actually know before the exam does.

  • The app doesn't let you forget things

What you learned in fifth year keeps coming up in practice, so it still feels fresh in June of sixth year.

Planning

Learn with a personalised study plan

Put in the date of your written exam and the app spreads the whole course across the weeks you have, with review built in.

  • Choosing how much of the course to include
    1

    Choose the depth

Everything in the course, or the essentials first. You decide how much goes into the plan.

  • Setting the exam date in the study planner
    2

    Set the date

Put in the date of your written exam. The course is spread across the time you have until then.

  • The plan on your learning path
    3

    Follow the plan

Each day mixes new lessons with the topics you're about to forget, so you never have to decide what to do next.

How you practise

Twelve ways you can practise

Ordering, matching, tables, labelling a diagram, fill the blank, flashcards. The same idea gets asked more than one way, so you learn the biology, not the look of the answer.

Sorting into groups

“Making Sense of Biology”

I'm a biology teacher, and I started MrExham.com in 2013 for students studying IGCSE, A level and IB. My videos have since been watched in more than 130 countries.

This course follows the new specification, strand by strand, and it's built the way I teach: a lesson, then questions.

Watching a video feels like revision, but you learn far more by answering questions. So this course asks you about every topic, until you know it.

Questions

Is this the new specification?

Yes. It's built on the new Leaving Certificate Biology specification, first examined in June 2027.

Does it help with the Biology in Practice Investigation?

Not directly. The investigation is your own project, worth 40%. The course is for the written exam, the other 60%, and for the investigating-in-science ideas both parts draw on.

Does it mark my written answers?

No. Every question in the app has a checkable answer, so it can't mark a long answer and doesn't pretend to. What it drills is the biology those answers are built from: the facts, the processes and the reasons behind them.

When does it open?

It isn't open yet. Sign up on this page and you'll hear the day it opens, with 10% off.
