How it works

Learn it, answer it, practise it

Mr Exham's videos stop and ask you questions as you watch. This course is built the same way: a lesson, then questions, then practice on what you got wrong.

01Lessons

Every point explained first

In the order your board's specification lists them, under its own codes, with Mr Exham's video wherever he has made one. Each lesson explains the idea before it asks you anything about it.

  • Your own spec

02Practice

Then the app asks you

Put the steps of the light intensity practical in order. Match each hormone to its job. Sort each one into the nervous system or a hormone in the blood. You find out what you know by answering.

  • Twelve question formats
  • You see where you stand

03Repetition

Older topics come back

What you get wrong gets practised again within days, what you know comes back later. So you will remember your Year 10 biology at your Year 11 papers, and the spring isn't spent relearning it.

  • Spaced practice
  • Nothing quietly fades

Ask when you're stuck

Type a question about any topic and the answer is drawn from this course's own lessons, with a link back to where it is explained. No weak sources, no AI hallucination.

Asking the app about the course material
  • Every topic, under its own code

The course follows the biology of your board's specification in order, so you always know which part you are on and what is left.

  • You answer instead of re-reading

Each lesson ends in questions, so you find out what you actually know before the exam does.

  • The app doesn't let you forget things

Combined Science gives each topic less class time, so your Year 10 biology keeps coming up in practice and still feels fresh at the exam.

How you practise

Twelve ways you can practise

Ordering, matching, tables, labelling a diagram, fill the blank, flashcards. The same idea gets asked more than one way, so you learn the biology, not the look of the answer.

“Making Sense of Biology”

I'm a biology teacher, and I started MrExham.com in 2013 for students studying IGCSE, A level and IB. My videos have since been watched in more than 130 countries.

Every video takes one topic of the specification, with its diagrams and practicals, and stops to ask you questions as you go.

Watching a video feels like revision, but you learn far more by answering questions. So this course asks you about every topic, until you know it.

Questions

Aren't Mr Exham's videos free?

Yes, and they stay free on YouTube. The course is where you learn your specification in order and get asked about it, with the things you get wrong coming back before the exam.

Will it follow my exam board?

Yes. Each course is built for one board, under its own codes and in its own order. Pick yours above and you get that one.

I'm doing Combined Science. Can I still take A-level Biology?

Often, yes, but each sixth form sets its own entry grades, and some ask more of Combined Science students. Check what yours asks for.

Does it mark my written answers?

No. Every question in the app has a checkable answer, so it can't mark a long answer and doesn't pretend to. What it drills is the biology those answers are built from: the facts, the processes and the reasons behind them.

I'm in Year 10. Is it too early to start?

No. You choose which topics go into your plan, so you can start with what your class has covered and add the rest as you go.

For parents: what is this?

A biology study course in the Voovo app, built with Mr Exham, a biology teacher who runs MrExham.com. It doesn't replace school or a tutor; it's the practice in between. It isn't open yet: sign up on this page and you'll hear the day it opens, with 10% off.
